Nivalis Nights Mod Manager: LUZ Profiles and Updates

Quick Answer

LUZ 0.4.9 is the latest GitHub release checked October 15. Import existing mods before your first Apply; import adds a package to a profile, Apply deploys that profile, and Play launches the game. Keep a separate save backup.

LUZ Civic Terminal is Hvizeu's unofficial Nivalis Nights mod manager and launcher. The original GitHub release was 0.4.9, published October 14 and checked October 15, 2026. It combines mod profiles, package imports, loader setup, update checks and restore points. The author's release notes keep native platform and gameplay acceptance pending; a passing dependency report does not guarantee a mod works in the game.

Download the launcher separately from the game

Use the author's 0.4.9 release. Its Windows x64 package is the main desktop route. Linux and macOS downloads are experimental; their availability does not establish Nivalis compatibility on those systems.

Extract the complete ZIP outside the game folder. On Windows, run Install LUZ.exe, select Install and create shortcut, then open the new shortcut. The archive includes .NET. Keep files from one launcher version together rather than replacing individual application files from a different release.

The observed Nexus header was 0.4.7 while the original GitHub release was 0.4.9. Check the source of the archive you actually download. LUZ 0.4.5 and later use an upgraded registry that older versions cannot read.

Protect an existing mod setup first

Close Nivalis. In Maintenance, check the detected installation or choose the directory containing Nivalis Nights.exe. If you already have plugins installed, select the intended profile and use Import existing installation before your first Apply.

That import adopts the deployed plugins, patchers and settings. Applying an empty profile instead can replace your current deployed set with an empty one. An inactive profile in another manager is not the same thing as the files actually present in the game.

Keep an independent save backup. Profile restore points cover mod and configuration files; they are not a substitute for pre-change saves.

ActionWhat it changesWhat to check next
Import ZIP / DLLAdds the package to the selected library/profileExact archive, selected profile and required dependencies
Apply profileReplaces deployed plugins and patchers with the enabled profile contentsGame closed, correct destination and proposed changes
Play NivalisStarts the game through the configured launcherLoader log, loaded plugin version and intended feature
  1. If the loader is missing, use Maintenance > Install recommended BepInEx. The quick start identifies Windows x64 IL2CPP be.788 and the official build server.
  2. Start the game yourself once after first-time loader setup, allow initialization to finish, then exit.
  3. Download the mod's author ZIP. In Registry > Import ZIP / DLL, choose that complete archive and confirm the destination profile.
  4. Enable the mod and install its requirements in the same profile. Use Auto-sort and inspect Profile issues.
  5. With the game closed, choose Apply profile and read the planned file changes.
  6. Start the game and inspect its log before testing the intended feature on a copied save.

Manual ZIP import does not require a Nexus API key. If Nexus only offers Manual Download, use that route. Registering a launcher cannot make a missing website download button appear.

Keep launcher updates and mod updates separate

Use Maintenance > LUZ updates > Check LUZ updates for the launcher. Its updater uses the original GitHub releases. Users moving from 0.3.x need one manual installation to obtain the updater.

For a plugin update, import its new ZIP or review the package's Check updates result, then Apply profile with the game closed. Pin this version excludes a package from update checks. Updating LUZ alone does not rebuild an incompatible game plugin.

A profile export records the package list and version references; it does not contain mod binaries, configuration, credentials or save files. Keep the required archives if you intend to reproduce a setup elsewhere.

Resolve a blocked Apply

Swipe horizontally to see all columns.

Blocking conditionNext check
Missing or outdated dependencyImport and enable the required package inside the selected profile
Wrong game directoryUse Maintenance to select the actual executable's folder
Game still runningSave and close it before deployment
Interrupted deployment or loader setupComplete the matching recovery action in Maintenance
Unsupported game build or unverified contractObtain an appropriate author release and read the compatibility report

Auto-sort uses declared dependencies and file priority; it cannot prove arbitrary mods are compatible. The current release's static compatibility inspection does not replace gameplay testing. Preserve the exact error and diagnostics instead of forcing an unknown setup through a warning.

After a game patch, Maintenance > After a game update > Diagnose game update checks the saved log and installed build. A saved log can predate the patch. Refresh game bindings backs up generated bindings and prepares regeneration at the next launch, but does not bypass a plugin's unsupported-build requirement.

Restore the right backup

Each Apply creates a mod/settings restore point. Use Restore profile backup for that setup; Restore loader backup is a separate action. Preserve your current save and the matching content packs before reverting a profile. A save containing custom objects may still depend on those packs.

If you also use Vortex or another Nexus manager for other games, retain it as the default NXM handler and import ZIPs or paste Nivalis links into LUZ. Registering LUZ as the default changes where Nexus links for all games open, while LUZ supports Nivalis Nights only.

For a loader failure after deployment, continue with BepInEx not loading. For package purposes and versions, use the mods directory.
