To progress The Scorpion in Nivalis Nights, take Alexandria's Scorpion Shimmer Chip to Sage Hullen, then ask Vik Ryan to examine it under UV light. Follow the clue about darkness and waste to the Scorpion's den in the Sewers, meet Masato Shima, and speak to Mizzy Weiss in Metro Hub about her debt. After updating Masato, meet Alexandria again, take her package to the Mountain Town island dropbox, and return to Masato after making the drop.
Two choices need particular care. Vik's UV light is not a shop purchase: he uses his own light to read the chip. Giving Mizzy an extension is not a confirmed way to save her: both recorded answers in the subsequent Masato update attach her death to the conversation ending. The route involves that outcome before the island delivery, so it should not be presented as a rescue walkthrough.
This walkthrough uses the Update #4 baseline and community quest data from build 25738165. Its dialogue branches have not been independently tested in the game; check your actual journal and conversation outcomes where patches differ.
The den clue does not provide a verified exact entrance, and the island delivery does not have a reliable midnight rule here. Use the district and the active objective rather than a guessed coordinate or a time copied from an ambiguous video title.
Receive Alexandria's Scorpion Shimmer Chip

The invitation begins with Alexandria. In the opening conversation, the player says Edison sent them to her. Work through the exchange until she explains what she is handing over. The result is the Scorpion Shimmer Chip, which starts the invitation route.
Alexandria does not answer the obvious questions about where, when, or who has invited you. Those questions close the same brief conversation after the handover, rather than revealing a complete address. The next task is to investigate the chip, not repeatedly ask Alexandria for a meeting time she never supplies.
If you are looking for the invitation and have not received this item, resolve the lead that sends you to Alexandria first. The dialogue does not establish a universal starting day or a guaranteed location schedule for her. Having the Scorpion Shimmer Chip is the relevant checkpoint for the following hacker conversation.
Keep this item distinct from ordinary currency. Sage sometimes calls it a shimmer coin, while the inventory label is Scorpion Shimmer Chip. The different conversational name does not imply that you should sell it or spend it at a vendor. It is the invitation and clue you are taking through the first part of the quest.
Ask Sage Hullen how to read the chip
Find Sage Hullen and discuss what is in your pocket. She recognizes the unusual chip and explains that its raised imagery is associated with scorpions. The useful part of the exchange concerns ultraviolet light: scorpions glow under it, providing the idea for examining the hidden details.
Continue until you can ask where to find a UV light. Sage directs you to Vik Ryan and tells you to mention that she sent you. The answer is a named contact, not an instruction to buy an arbitrary lamp or install UV lighting in one of your venues.
Sage's questions about what you know of scorpions can have several replies. Those replies converge on the ultraviolet explanation. You do not need a particular biology answer to obtain the next lead. The concrete outcome is knowing to speak to Vik about examining the chip.
Let Vik examine the chip instead of buying a light

Ask Vik whether he has a UV light. He asks what type you want, but all recorded answers lead to him saying his stock is sold out. That exchange is part of the dialogue route. It does not mean the quest requires you to wait for a portable lamp to restock.
Ask where you can get one and he reveals that he has a light behind the counter. He immediately makes clear that this one is not for sale. Ask to use it, explain Sage's involvement, and show him the chip when the conversation offers that action. This moves the discussion from shopping to reading the invitation.
Vik wants to examine the chip himself. Agree to give it to him, then ask what he found. During that sequence the chip is temporarily handed over and returned; the useful result is the hidden message and the lead to the den. You are not buying a UV item to carry through the city.
An initial hesitation about giving him the chip still has a response that lets you agree. A final refusal to hand it over leads to an explicit quest failure. If progressing is your aim, do not finish with the refusal after he warns that finding another genuine UV light will be difficult.
The clue points away from the snake and toward the scorpion, combining little light with a lot of waste. Vik explains the absence-of-light idea, then tells you to search those parts of the city. This is a thematic location clue rather than a promise that the contact appears only at a particular clock time.
Find the den in the Sewers
The den belongs to the Sewers part of the route. The first Masato conversation explicitly recognizes that you are wandering there, and Alexandria greets you when you arrive at the Scorpion's den. Use those facts to narrow the search after Vik has read the chip.
The clue is insufficient for a turn-by-turn entrance route. No exact pipe, street coordinate, or doorway is confirmed here. A direction such as counting streets from an unspecified starting point would give you apparent precision without a dependable landmark. Follow the active den objective and the darkness-and-waste clue.
If markers appear mixed with other tasks, pin The Scorpion in the journal. With Quest Marker Filtering enabled, the current game baseline filters the HUD, compass, map, and world markers by that pinned quest. That helps identify the relevant objective without changing the district or resolving an unstarted dialogue stage.
Speak to Alexandria at the den before introducing yourself to Masato. She acknowledges that you made it and directs you toward the person expecting you. Her warning about what to say does not create a password puzzle. The next interaction is Masato's introduction, where the chip explains why you are there.
Meet Masato and take the Mizzy assignment

Introduce yourself to Masato Shima, or show him the coin. The conversation can explore his identity, his organization, and why he avoids recognition. These questions eventually lead to the task he has prepared for you.
Masato says Mizzy Weiss owes him Lims after losing the money through gambling. Your assignment is to collect that debt. He does not quote a verified debt total in this exchange, so do not arrive with a number invented from his description of a large amount.
Go to Metro Hub and speak to Mizzy about the gambling debt. That conversation is the step to resolve before reporting back to Masato. Finding Mizzy for an unrelated interaction is not evidence that the debt discussion has occurred.
The next update recognizes whether you granted Mizzy three more days. That establishes a decision about an extension, but it does not establish that you can replace the debt with a personal payment of an arbitrary amount. Nor does meeting Masato automatically mean the collection is finished: he later makes a point of distinguishing talking to Mizzy from getting his Lims.
Understand the extension before updating Masato
When you return, Masato asks whether the task is complete. Tell him you talked to Mizzy, explain that she could not pay immediately, and follow the discussion of her request for three days. The response corresponding to granting the extension has him demand repayment in three days with ten percent added.
Treat that as Masato's stated demand. It does not provide a confirmed countdown that safely preserves Mizzy until the end of day three, and it does not supply the missing principal needed to calculate a payment total. The route's next consequence is more serious than simply waiting for a revised invoice.
Both recorded answers about the extension lead to a conversation ending that removes Mizzy and marks her dead. If you say you did not grant extra time, Masato instead describes Alexandria paying her a visit and sends you to meet Alexandria. Granting time therefore cannot be promised as a successful rescue option.
This is a choice point worth understanding before you finish the update. Choosing a sympathetic reply earlier does not establish that the later consequences are reversed. If your aim is specifically to keep Mizzy alive, this route does not provide a verified solution, and continuing it should not be recommended under that claim.
Meet Alexandria again in Metro Hub
After the Masato update, the next objective is another Alexandria meeting in Metro Hub. She avoids acknowledging Mizzy directly and redirects the conversation toward an errand. Ask what she needs you to do to receive the package for the delivery stage.
The item handed over is a Poison Pill Bottle. Alexandria says to bring it to a dropbox on an island in Mountain Town. Her remarks connect the package with the debt consequences, but the player-facing next action is a delivery to that specific interactable.
Do not use the bottle as a general consumable or substitute another poison item. The task is carrying the handed-over package to Masato's dropbox. Simply visiting Metro Hub or asking Alexandria about Mizzy without reaching the handover leaves that action unfinished.
Find the Mountain Town island and speak to Masato
Travel toward the island containing Masato's dropbox in Mountain Town. The quest separates finding the island from speaking with Masato and making the drop. Reaching the island alone therefore does not finish the delivery.
No exact island coordinate or dependable arrival deadline is established here. In particular, a midnight requirement should not be used to explain every missing interaction: the available route does not confirm one. Check that you have the package and that the island objective is current before changing your schedule around a guessed time.
Speak to Masato when you find him. You can ask about the delivery and challenge the implications of carrying the package. His response is to insist that you finish the job before he explains the organization. Asking questions is not the same as completing the physical dropbox action.
At this conversation there is another explicit failure route. If you refuse to join the arrangement and return the Scorpion Shimmer Chip when he demands it, the quest fails. The two ways of agreeing to hand the coin back converge on that outcome. A calm farewell does not turn it into a successful alternative completion.
If you choose to continue the Scorpion route, agree to proceed and interact with Dropbox - Mountain Town. This is the required delivery action. Neither carrying the Poison Pill Bottle to the island nor ending Masato's first island conversation demonstrates that the package has been deposited.
Return after the drop to join the Scorpion's Nest
After making the drop, speak to Masato again. The final discussion is available when the delivery has registered. If he still tells you to finish the job, check the dropbox interaction rather than repeatedly asking what his organization does.
In this later conversation Masato answers the question about Nivalis's most valuable commodity: he describes ideas, the movement of those ideas through the city, and the organization built around them. You can ask what lies behind the operation or what item he meant; those recorded questions lead into the same explanation.
The final objective is to join the Scorpion's Nest through that conversation. Do not stop at finding the island, which is an earlier stage, or at depositing the bottle, which opens the final exchange. The route does not establish a fixed Lims reward or an automatic item payout, so the reliable endpoint is the delivery and the resulting Nest conversation.
Keep the two failure points distinct when reviewing your save: a final refusal to let Vik read the chip can stop the route before the den, while returning the coin to Masato stops it at the island. Mizzy's fate is a separate consequence of progressing through the debt update; neither failure choice is established as a method that restores her after that update has happened.
